Several people have commented on my "accent" since getting back from Ohio/Michigan. This is pretty typical--not the first time. No comments were quite so dramatic as a few kids in my fifth period.
A few students said to me, "Ms. Edwards, you went home for Christmas, didn't you?"
I answered that I had.
The reply? "I thought you had a Middle Eastern accent!"
Yikes.
