A Bachelor's Best and Worst

The most incredible sunset I have ever seen.
No explanation required. Yuck!Rock jumping and rope swinging.
Battle of the Cane Spider--the broom won, but my nerves were shot.
My daily lunch spot.
I'm out of my first can of Raid already.Swimming with sea turtles.

I'm glad Karen arrives here shortly, it's her turn to take care of the next spider.

Aloha! Welcome to Kauai

For those of you that haven't heard, Karen and I accepted a position in Hawaii. I just started last week working on a condominium project in Poipu, on the south shore of Kauai. Karen won't be able to come out until she finishes teaching in June. In the meantime, I have tried to keep myself occupied. I have always loved the ocean. I am now learning to respect it. This turned out not to be the best swimming hole.
This is a shot of me getting scorched by the noon-day sun...at least the scenery was great and I was liberal with two different brands of sunscreen.

Within the first couple of days, I luckily found someone I knew. He and I were in the Construction Management program together. Nick, Heidi, and Ty happened to live in the same neighborhood and quickly became my new friends. They took care of me most of last week and even let me watch LOST with them in "HD". After this shot at Waimea Canyon we hit the beach. I'm still trying to catch my first wave on the body board. Karen laughs at me and can't wait to show me up when she gets here.

I told Karen I would wait to do most of the hiking until she gets here. This is me being true to my word. I only took this shot from the overlook. We'll hike to the bottom when Karen's here.
