Aloha! Welcome to Kauai

For those of you that haven't heard, Karen and I accepted a position in Hawaii. I just started last week working on a condominium project in Poipu, on the south shore of Kauai. Karen won't be able to come out until she finishes teaching in June. In the meantime, I have tried to keep myself occupied. I have always loved the ocean. I am now learning to respect it. This turned out not to be the best swimming hole.
This is a shot of me getting scorched by the noon-day sun...at least the scenery was great and I was liberal with two different brands of sunscreen.

Within the first couple of days, I luckily found someone I knew. He and I were in the Construction Management program together. Nick, Heidi, and Ty happened to live in the same neighborhood and quickly became my new friends. They took care of me most of last week and even let me watch LOST with them in "HD". After this shot at Waimea Canyon we hit the beach. I'm still trying to catch my first wave on the body board. Karen laughs at me and can't wait to show me up when she gets here.

I told Karen I would wait to do most of the hiking until she gets here. This is me being true to my word. I only took this shot from the overlook. We'll hike to the bottom when Karen's here.

I just can't believe you really live in Hawaii. Unbelievable. I want you to send me some of those cool Hawaiian shorts you are sporting in your pic for my birthday. I'm dead serious!!! By the way, when you get your cell, let me know the #. Scott

Would you say your hair is red, orange, or "fox-colored?"

It's possible that you are color blind, so I'm just checking.

I prefer to call it burned-rust orange, but I may be color-blind.

The Varneys passed through Denver on their way to Seattle--- We talked about saving for our vacation to see you guys in Hawaii. But you mighth have to stay their longer than you stayed in San Fran-- We are sad we never got there to see you. Roni has never been and I want to take her there!

Brady,

Are you with the same company that you were with in San Fran? Roni thought that you were--but the Varney's and I were not sure?

You two hang in there while you are apart ok!

We love ya!

Brady,
We miss you already! I felt so bad that I never got to say goodbye. It looks like you are having fun, it is so beautiful there. We are excited for you and your new adventure.
Karen,
We have to get together and do some stuff before you take off too!

You are making us REALLY excited to come and visit.

You all have it wrong! We think that the hair is more of a Burnt Sienna.

Body Surfing huh! We did hear on the news the other night that there were problems with beached whales on Kauai. Did you eat more sand, or ocean water?

That's some pretty neat scenery.
So, Brady, does everyone in your ward start off by saying, 'Brothers and Sisters, Alo-HA!' I think if they did, that would get very annoying. I'm annoyed as it is with just the 1 or 2 posers that do it here, although they grew up in Texas or something.

Brady, it must be tough to get up each morning and go to work and have to fight your way through paradise to get there. Everyone should have it so bad.

It looks beautiful, but be careful with all those surfing adventures. We may not go body surfing with you, but we will collect shells on the beach when we come.

I'm hoping to see your skin match your hair. That could be really fun--well, maybe not for you...

Those board shorts don't make you look any more like a native Brady, but you keep trying!:)
