Hanalei/Brady's Bday

Happy 39th Birthday to Brady!
We started his birthday celebrations on July 4th with a red, white, and blue breakfast.

Zac said to eat this right, you do the whipped topping plus syrup.  He spent the next hour worried about diabetes.
 Owen only ate blueberries.

The drive to Hanalei looked menacing with the weather, but it was nearly perfect when we arrived.  Vicki, Jim, and David joined us for the day.  The kids were disappointed there were no waves (it is summer so there rarely are), but entertained themselves with square sand balls, drip castles, football, swimming, and paddle boarding.

Vicki and David conquered paddle boarding for the first time, and she claims that maybe she does not hate the beach quite as much after this day.

We walked down to Pine Trees and Kate impressed us by surfing at least 15 waves.
David was equally thrilled to get on a surf board for the first time.

Zac found a way to ramp the small waves.  It was a lovely day and we left content--all except Kate, who was deeply disappointed that we saw no fireworks.  Luckily, our neighbor lit a huge stash of fireworks within a few minutes of us pulling in our driveway and invited us to sit in on the display.

For Brady's birthday, we went to Keokis and celebrated him with a new TV and an aperature t-shirt.  He teases me that I can't seem to remember anything he teaches me about the camera.  Zachary also gifted him a special present--a book he wrote about our family based on the show "Lost in Space."  He worked on it for at least 20 hours.

 Love, love Kate's expression:

We love you, Brady Edwards.  One more year to 40, baby!
