Karen's Kitchen

No, that title is not a typo, a play on words, or an oxy moron. It is my affectionate title for my new role as primary dinner-maker. I'll tell you what, I sure never thought I'd be saying this--at least until I was entirely in the "stay at home" category. But now (an entire WEEK into the process), I am the proud new owner of some decent meals. Ang--no more veggie trays for me! I want a REAL assignment at family dinners.

I even have an apron.

Hard to imagine, huh?

I am at home alone; Cory is in New York eating Kangaroo and watching movies with my brother. What did I do this evening? I watched the HGTV channel and made bread. It exploded from the pan, but did taste good. Watch out though, once you take over a role it takes much effort to get your husband to take it back. I never should have started entering the receipts into Money.

I feel stupid because I capitalized kangaroo which definitely should not be capitalized. Sorry about that.

YAY! I have an apron too! One of Eric's mom's friends got me the apron as a bridal shower gift among other kitchen goodies. I thought, "Who does she think I'm going to be, Dolly Madison?" But, my mom convinced me to not take it back, saying I'd need it. So far, I haven't needed it, but alas, the kitchen has yet to become "Jill's Kitchen." I, myself, am waiting for a bigger kitchen!

Karen, you who are now the famous Olive Garden secret salad dressing recipe holder, way to go! But, I do agree with Kristen, once you start wearing the apron, its hard to get your husband to cook again. I'd like to think its because I'm such a good cook...ha, ha. So, now Paul has taken over another role...dishwasher. I'm fine with that! Oh, and by the way your assignment for Thanksgiving dinner is homemade rolls and pumpkin pie!

Oh - and this is Paul now - we'd also like to add to that Thanksgiving list: some bon bons, some ju ju fruits and some milk duds. See if you can do that one!
