Baby Goat, Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-do

Owen and his antics crack me up.  Every Sunday, he gets ready for church by applying Brady's deodorant to every available spot on his arms and legs.  I keep telling him it is not sunscreen but he's convinced it is part of the Sabbath Day preparation.

The kids were into March Madness this year, despite the fact that we filled out their brackets for them last minute.  Zac went from zero to sixty in his sport-viewing interest this year.  Now, he's excited about the NBA playoffs.

Hilary's baby goats were born a few weeks ago, and she invited the kids to play with them.  Owen and Kate were delighted (and Zachary stayed home to read).  Owen chased, pet, and held them, and they were so patient.  Hilary reassured us that they were the goats rejected by their mother and the handling was okay.

"Mom, he is licking my fingers!  Hehehehe!"  The goats had strong sucking reflexes.
Kenyon took Owen into the field with the big goats.  O wasn't intimidated by their horns, but Kate wanted nothing to do with them.

I have a picture of Kate holding a baby goat here when Owen was only a couple weeks old and she was just older than Owen now, so this picture makes me want to cry.
Kate mothering the little reject.
Saturday soccer!  It adds to the crazy, but oh, we love cheering these kids on!  Owen hangs out with the coach's daughter, Ka'hiau, every game.  She gives him lollipops and that day, sunflower seeds.
Years ago, I told Kate I would buy her a real coconut at Farmer's Market and I finally made good on the promise!  She did not like it, but pretended for a solid 20 minutes.  She told me, "I kept putting my lips on the straw so you did not feel bad.  I'm sorry I wasted your money."  I thought it was delicious, so no worries, Love!
Kate was exhausted from dance rehearsals that got her home at 10pm the previous two nights, so she came back and slept for two hours before her KUGA performance with the group "Bloom" that afternoon and evening.

Kate, Violet and Ava were in the performance together.  Kate was surprised to see Mikaela show up and support her!  Kate had a huge smile the entire performance, and was deliberate in all her movements.  It was her last performance with Miss Jenna, her favorite dance teacher, who moved to the mainland the next day.

That same Saturday, Zachary participated in the 100 meter, 200 meter, 400 matter and 4X100 relay.  His relay came in second place overall, and he also placed in the 200 meter.  We wonder how he would do if he wasn't coming off an hour long soccer game, but that will always be the case and several other runners were in the same boat.  His legs hurt for days after this long day running, but he was happy with his performances!

Loved seeing the pictures and videos of his relay team.

Brady and Zachary watching March Madness between events.
Kate has a Sunday tradition: after church, she makes a plate of fruit with whatever we have in the refrigerator.
These pants showed up in the mail from Kathie after I told her how much I loved hers.  She had an army of helpers searching every Ross in Utah, and Sarah finally tracked down a pair.  Love!
Owen had his first trip to the dentist.  He did so well, despite them needing to retake the X-rays three times.  He has even asked, "Can I go back to the dentist and sit in the chair that moves around and then get a toy?"
Zachary is the king builder and we were in a hurry to get to soccer practice the other day, but he convinced me to come up and see his creation.  His creative expression of love made me misty-eyed.
Megan and Hilary had birthdays, both celebrated with several friends at Kalaheo Cafe.  Owen came down with a fever during Megan's lunch and fell asleep in my arms after crying the first 30 min, and did not have much more success with lunch #2 the next week, asking to go to the bathroom 3 times in 45 minutes.  3-year-olds are so much fun but not great luncheon companions.  I'm just grateful I can get in time with these gals once in a while.
You know what 3-year-olds are perfect at?  Bedtime stories with older brothers.

...and flying kites!  Kauai was gusty for a full week, and the only good activities on island were bike riding and kite flying.  Owen had groups of tourists stopping to watch him.

Owen is demanding with the music playing in the car.  He of course has to take turns with Zac and Kate choosing the song, and he usually picks one of two songs: "Baby Shark" (doo-doo-doo-doo-doo) or "WICKED" (from Descendants).  The other day, we were sitting in Sacrament Meeting and he started singing, "We are all the ways to be: W. I. C. K. E. D."  Perfect timing, Dude!
