February: Don't Get Caught with your Pants Down, Finally Snow, and Finally RACHEL!

Walking the dog every night is chilly.  Brady searched up fleece-lined pants and found these winners.  I will never stop laughing at this photo.
Lucky me: a day at Snowbasin with these cuties.  Walker took us on routes through the trees and in some of the most fun conditions I've ever skied.  My kids are bombers on skies and I cannot see them when it is snowing this hard.  It was after this outing that I got an Airtag for Owen's ski coat.

Such a mild winter in the valley but at least we had a few epic snows in the mountains!
Evidence that I am a nice mama/aunt.  I hate Chick Fil-A.
Parent-Teacher Conference captures:

When Owen plays a sport, it is his favorite sport for the whole season.  He had a bunch of ball hogs on his team and Owen seemed to be the only kiddo capable of giving the space and following the league's many rules (no steals, basically minimal defense, giving space to the offense, etc.).  He made a bunch of baskets and Wednesday evenings for two months always included his arms-up defense and passionate play.

More skiing.  I write this with a boot on for Achilles tendonitis--caused at least somewhat by my skiing/boots.  No regrets.  As long as I can hike by mid-July.  So maybe a couple regrets.
Most unique ski conditions of the winter: graupel.  It's like skiing through Dippin Dots!

Everything about this day was perfection until the 4 hour drive home through traffic caused by an avalanche.
Another Wednesday: another Owen ball game!

My favorite part of living here: the impromptu cousin and family moments.

February meant Valentines.  Kate asked a boy to be her Valentine (success!) and Owen followed his older sister's lead and asked a girl to be his.  He was amply rewarded for his courage.

Owen's response:

It finally snowed enough to sled and we spent the afternoon in the dense snow.

Another ski Saturday at Snowbasin.  The snow was slightly less powder but we still had a great time.

Basement concrete pour:

Chorus concert.  Kate is convinced this choir teacher hates girls.  I manned this game while Brady, Cory, and Scott attended the BYU game.  It was a big one and I'm so glad they had those sports win moments together as brothers!

Kate comes to sibling games as often as she can.

Brady traveled a ton in February, the LAST MONTH OF TRIAL!  Owen takes it hard when Brady is gone, but I tried to make some special moments with him to ease his sadness.
Sunny afternoon at Deer Valley--our only day at this resort.  The slopes were icy but it was fun to try somewhere new.  Watching Owen and Kate take jump after jump made me feel equal parts envious and proud.  Brady spent the afternoon with his parents.

Sunday dinner at Cory and Kristen's--making posters for Rachel's homecoming!  We were all proud of our creativity (aka copying off Instagram), and overly excited for Rachel's return.

SHE'S BACK!

Best dog park for the best dog.
Skiing with my dad!  It was so fun to have him join our massive group while he was in town to help my mom with oral surgery.  I loed having him see my kids cruise on skis, and I was so impressed with his skills and speed.

Framing begins!

Let's Go Cougars!  A game with Mom and Dad!

The kids performed their contest pieces and played confidently, scoring high marks!
Then we spent the afternoon shopping, which I enjoy 100 times less than skiing.  But these shoes are bomb.
Zac says the only pics he likes are candids.  Here you go, son.
End of February had us anxiously looking forward to the trial ending mid-March, pretty much done with ski season, and excited for spring sports!
