May Day, or Lei Day, is celebrated at the beginning of May in the schools. The kids work on songs, chants, and hula dances to perform to celebrate Hawaii's culture, most obviously the native culture. It was adorable. Zachary took it all very seriously, keeping his pose and showing off his dance moves from the front row. The lucky thing about being a kindergardener is you are in the front row for all the school-wide dances, too. He knew every word and every move. Brady couldn't be there, so he performed them at home, too.
Zachary's teacher is in this shot. Not a great picture, but I want Zac to remember this.
That's the 4th (?) lei I've ever made. Mom and Dad Edwards helped me pluck those plumerias off the tree the day before they left. My house smelled like plumeria lotion for days. Mmmm....Zachary's best friends: Joseph and David.
Zachary with his teacher, Mrs. Yamada. She was a perfect start to his public education. Love her, love her, love her!
