We love visitors who love Kauai. It is so refreshing to watch their excitement and delight! The first day here, we gave the kiddos "ocean initiation" at the prettiest beach around--Hanalei. Kristen didn't give herself enough credit on the surfing--it's hard to surf when there's no waves!
Pictures like this remind me that our backyard really is beautiful. We're so excited to move by the beach that we forget to give credit to our current living situation. I think Cory and Kristen should blow this picture up to a 50X80, and stick it over their fireplace.
Ellie-belly was so hard to capture looking at the camera, but somehow, the best kid shots we have are of her.
We spent a lot of time at "Baby Beach." It's terrific for the "calm factor." You aren't worried the whole time that your child is going to get swept out to sea, and there are so many kids with so many different beach toys that no one gets bored.
When we get together with Cory and Kristen, we all end up taking engagement photos. Date night at Beach House was outstanding, as usual.Another highlight? Kristen and the kids found a coconut at Lydgate. Brady entertained us all dissecting it. Besides watching him kill spiders, that's one of those times I really think my man is manly.
We took turns at Brennecke's, and rode tons of waves together, then caught an insane sunset. Precious.
By far, the highlight for us was the Kalalau Trail to Hanakapai Falls. We've done this hike to the beach many times, but it has been 2 years since we've gone to the falls together. The winter rainfall, combined with perfect weather and trail conditions made this the best hike we've ever done.

Seriously, looking up from the pool at the falls was magical.
...also magical:
Loved it, guys. We hope this isn't your only visit.

When I told Rachel that we would probably go back to Hawaii in a couple of years, she said, "Oh, after this nap?" We will be back.
You aren't going to comment on the 50X80 enlargement? C'mon! You are the only person that will think that is even funny! Don't you remember commenting on how much it cracked you up to see huge blow-ups of couples???
Isn't it horrible when you comment on something and the other person doesn't get it? Don't worry, I thought it was funny, we are not going to go for 50X80, but we might do a 4X6.
Um, the 50x80 enlargement comment was one of my favorites if it makes you feel better Karen.
Great pictures! Either the sunset really was that stunning or someone has great camera work, or both. Beautiful.
Jealous. I mean, happy for them.
I'm back.
Wow... such amazing pictures!! Rob and I still need to come visit you guys... possibly this summer??
The scenery is beautiful. The only thing that looks better are our kids and the grandkids.
