Zachary Adventures at OFY

Zachary attended Outdoors for Youth the first week we were in Iceland.  He went with Sariah and Elise, traveling by shuttle bus.  We were so impressed with him for taking on this week without a male roommate he already knew, and we had all the confidence in him that he would make friends that week.

His favorite parts:

  • Crate stacking and climbing
  • Arrow tag
  • New friends--especially Easton.
  • The dance, because it was his first time dancing and he got to ask a girl.  He said he felt comfortable and had a great time.
  • The rope course.  He liked the bouy section.  It was challenging.
  • The team building activities, like jumping over a wall, finding a pathway through a mote, and balance exercises.
  • He like his counselors, Natalie and Dallin.

Hardest parts:
  • Power jump--trying to get over his fear of heights.  He did it but he says he still doesn't like heights.
  • Finding new friends the first day.  By the end of the day, he felt confident with his new group.
  • Getting sick the last day.

Reuniting with Sam after OFY/time with grandparents.
We even received pics from Diane with Roxy and her playdates.

There is nothing like knowing your kids are safe while you are gone.  Thank you, Rach.  What a gift.
